Educational Support Services – Children with Down syndrome need a variety of support services beyond general educational curriculum. Parents may consider speech therapy as well as occupational and physical therapy to meet the developmental needs of the child. These services may be obtained from the local school district or a number of agencies such as Easter Seals. Family Support – This condition is often misunderstood by family and friends. They may not know how to offer support. It is important, however, for the family of a child with Down syndrome to have a strong support system.
